The last time I ran was back in August when I completed the Disneyland 10K. I’ve been incredibly lazy and in the back of my mind, I knew that I needed to get back into the shape I was in when I competed. It’s not like I lost a ton of weight or whatever, I just felt better when I was not sitting on the couch all night when I got home from work.
Late last year, I had lots of momentum to keep running a few races here and there, but after I missed the deadline to sign up for the Tinker Bell 10K, I just sort of fell off the bandwagon and just let the holidays come and go without doing anything active. I knew that if I wanted to do another runDisney event, I would have to wait until today before I had another chance to sign up. So, being determined and after discussing it for a bit, I decided to attempt to sign up for the 2014 Disneyland 10K in August.
I knew it was going to be busy, so I made sure I was ready at 9am this morning to sign up. It looks like everyone else that was running was ready too because by 10am the whole thing was sold out. Thankfully, Daniel and I were able to register as was our friends Eric and Arthur. It’ll be nice to know that they are there, but I know that I will probably lose them after the first few minutes and then see them again at the finish line.
In addition, Daniel and I are thinking of signing up for the Angels 5K – a much cheaper race that is closer and shorter to where we live. It’s way earlier in March of this year, and I think it will do a lot to get me going back to running on a regular basis instead of just sitting around until July when I have to start training for the 10K.
So wish me luck! It’s time to dust off the yellow shoes and hit the road..
