The Good Friday Quake of 1964 is without a doubt one of my favorite earthquakes in recorded history. Not just the most powerful quake in US history, but also one that led to scientific advancements that have helped save lives and give us a greater understanding of earthquakes and tsunamis.
The USGS has a great page with all sorts of links and videos about the quake so check it out!
Some of my favorite links: the USGS Fact Sheet which looks at the quake from a historical perspective.
This great USGS Video (I love the disclaimer that everything is factual as of publication date – oh scientists!)
