Europe 2002 Day 11: Paris to Los Angeles

Thursday November 14, 2002

We woke up late to catch our bus to the airport. We missed the 5.45 and 6.05 busses, but managed to catch the 6.22 departure to CDG. Luckily, at this ungodly early hour, the airport was not very busy (maybe everyone was already checked in?). We managed to exchange our Euros for Pounds so we could use them in Heathrow as we waited our connection to get to LAX. On board BA303, the person next to us on the Airbus was a very nervous passenger who smelled of booze and cigarettes (wait, what time was this at??).

Once again at Heathrow, we had to do the hike-bus-hike transfer to get from the domestic terminal to the international terminal. I plunked down some cash for Michael Palin’s Sahara book which I managed to read on the way back home to LAX. I can’t wait to watch the series when it comes out in the US.

Before we knew it, we were back in LAX in the taxi heading back to the Le Meridien Beverly Hills to get the car and then head back home to Studio City. It has been a great trip and it was nice to get away from the grind and stresses of everyday life.

Editor’s note 2009: When I rediscovered the Trip Diary notebook in August 2009, the trip diary abruptly ended with the arrival at LHR and the rest of the trip was pulled from memory. This was something of a melancholy trip to revisit so many years later. It was a pivotal point in my life which I am just now being able to revisit..
