Asia 2015 Day 9: Shanghai Bonus Day

Tuesday September 15, 2015

It’s Daniel’s last full day in Shanghai and he wanted to do some souvenir shopping in town so we set off to East Nanjing Road to check out some of the more touristy spots to see if there was anything to get. Not really finding anything, we headed to the little shops around the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel and then well, we decided to ride it again to get to Lujiazui. We headed back to the Metro and by this time it was raining – at least it wasn’t as bad as it was in Japan.

I wanted to head over to the Shanghai International Eyeglass Market to check and see if I could find a replacement camera for the one I lost in Hong Kong. It was located near the Shanghai Railway station and since we were in the area, we decided to try the Carl’s Jr in Shanghai for lunch. I found a couple of places that had my camera for sale and the prices were reasonable, but I decided to wait until I could chat with my friend Leo who is from Shanghai to see if he had a better way to get it. Also, he would be able to help me negotiate in Mandarin if needed.

There was one more place where we wanted to check and see if there were any souvenirs and we headed to the Shanghai Science and Technology Center metro station. There was a shopping area at this location that specializes in knick knacks and knockoffs if that is your thing. We were heavily approached once we left the metro station but we assured them we were only interested in knick knack shops. We finally found one place where the guy wasn’t all up in our business and let us browse and pick out a few things for Daniel to take home.

Mission Accomplished, we headed back to the apartment. I decided to show Daniel how easy it was to get food delivered instead of going out to another restaurant. We picked one of my favorite spots, Pete’s Tex Mex. The food was great and we enjoyed our last meal together. It was time to pack and get ready for the long flight home tomorrow.
