Japan October 2004 Day 7: Behind the Scenes

Up early again today to get our behind the scenes look at Tokyo Disneyland’s Buzz Lightyear attraction. Per our plans we were to meet our contact outside of the Maihama station and then get escorted to the attraction before park opening. We met our contact with no issues and all I can really say is that we had the most amazing time learning about the attraction and meeting our contact Mariko. Truly a highlight of my trips to Japan and my work career to meet people from another park on the other side of the world. We share so much but are different and I am looking forward to using my new learnings.

Strolling down Main Street World Bazaar

After going our separate ways, we headed back into Tokyo Disneyland to take in the better weather as well as see if we could get on a couple more of the missing attractions. We managed to make it to the canoes and get some great shots around the park (and of course watching the Halloween parade again) before heading over to DisneySea.

While we were at DisneySea we ran into one of the managers who we had met earlier in the day on our tour and chatted with him a bit. We noticed earlier there was a lot of attractions closed at Tokyo Disneyland and it turns out there was a 6.1 aftershock around 10:40am. I didn’t feel it because we were moving around the park but we did get some insights into what the resort does immediately after a quake. Super interesting to hear about their procedures.

We bid our farewells and then headed over to the Gondolas. This attraction had eluded us for days and months and we were glad we finally made it. It was our last attraction at DisneySea to experience as we now have done them all. It was right at sunset and it got darker and darker real fast as we were one of the last boats to go for the day.

Finally riding the Gondolas at Tokyo DisneySea

We finished the day with our usual dining and shopping in the park. We had yet another amazing trip to Tokyo Disney Resort and I feel a bit sad that we don’t know when we will come back. We might do another after 4pm ticket on one of our remaining days but we shall see how the schedule pans out.
