Japan 2017 Day 8: Tokyo DisneySea

Monday October 9, 2017

Its the holiday today so its another busy day at the Resort. Again, anticipating the crowds, we focused on visiting the attractions that were new to us – for Tokyo Disney Sea it was experiencing the new Nemo and Friends SeaRider which had just opened in May. We managed to get in line and get Fastpasses for the attraction and without too much trouble we were able to experience it. I enjoyed the Nemo overlay but there’s always a special place inside my heart for the original attraction. From there it was over to look at Tower of Terror. The line was super long already and all Fastpasses were gone so we decided to take a look at Toyville Trolley Park. As much as we tried to convince Leslie it was the same exact ride as in DCA, she insisted we go on Toy Story Mania. Leslie has been great and has gone with the flow so we rewarded her with waiting 2.5 hours in line.

After Mania, we headed over to check out Mermaid Lagoon and Arabian Coast and visited some of our favorite spots including Sinbad’s Storybook Voyage. As much as I love Sinbad, like Nemo I will always remember the original version we saw back in 2004. From there we headed back to Mediterranean Harbor to watch the Villains World show on the harbor. It was a great show – although I will be honest, I have loved just about every show they have put on the harbor since I have been to DisneySea. Just something about synchronized boats, music, and Disney characters that I love.

A few more rides later, we headed back to the Cape Cod and American Waterfront areas of the park. We lingered in the Cape Cod area for a but as this remains one of our favorite spots in the park to eat and soak up the atmosphere. When we headed into American Waterfront, we managed to catch the Stella Lou and friends show near the Columbia. It was a cute show and glad we managed to see it.

At the end of the night, we managed to see TDS’s version of Fantasmic! I thought it was interesting how they updated the show for the venue and had some of the classic Fantasmic music, but overall I will still love the original Disneyland version the best. Just because I prefer the original, doesn’t mean I didn’t like the TDS version. Again, I am biased because synchronized, boats, and an erupting volcano in the background but it is still special.

Finally, we shopped around the stores in the park trying to get those last minute souvenirs. These days, I am less and less interested in purchasing stuff at parks. I just have too much crap at home, but I always try and get a little souvenir post card or something small to remember the time and year when I went to the park.

Tomorrow is our last day at the parks and the one thing Daniel was looking forward to – the last operating day of the Star Jets attraction at Tokyo Disneyland.
