Catchup

The last few days have been spent recovering from Tuesday’s festivities. On Thursday, Reed paid a visit to his Mom’s house in Irvine and we had a chance to meet up and grab a bite to eat. It was nice to catch up on all things UC Davis as well as see Reed. In a way, Reed and the gang at UCD were my surrogate family after I graduated college. My mom and brother all moved to Arizona, and I was pretty much on my own. Thankfully, I had the UCD gang to look out after me. They sure did teach me a lot. An example: Reed’s rule of probability: given any 50-50 situation, you are bound to be wrong 80% of the time. If a job opened back up on campus in their department, I would seriously consider taking it. the only catch is that Matt and Steve are the only other people I still am in contact with up there.

Speaking of Matt, we were on the phone today for three hours. I am rarely on the phone that long with anyone these days, but it was sure nice to catch up with him. I’m sad he won’t be up there when I visit on the 31st, but he will be near San Diego for six weeks so hopefully we’ll get together a few times. I sure do wish my friends were a lot closer. It’s tough when they are scattered from LA to No Cal to Montana and to Europe. I sure wish they would invent transporters.

It has been quite a catch up week: In addition to Matt and Reed, I also have had the opportunity to catch up with Lev and Haim. I need to do a better job of keeping up with people!
