Around the World with Michael Palin

My hero and inspiration for my Trip Diaries, Michael Palin has launched a new web site dedicated to his travel programs “Around the World in 80 Days”, “Pole to Pole”, “Full Circle”, “Hemingway Adventure”, and the forthcoming (at least to the US) “Sahara”. Just like my Swedish trip in 1999, I was able to pick up Michael’s book at the book store in the UK way before his show debuted in the states. I’m currently reading Sahara and I’m sure the program that will follow will be great.

Looking over his site has also inspired me to do a little more work into my own Trip Diaries site. I have always wanted to produce a more robust version of the site but have never found a good inspiration until now. I am not sure how long or what form it will ultimately take or if it will include many of the old City Musings Ideas but hopefully it won’t take me forever and a day.

What does it mean for you, my loyal reader? It means that the photos of the journey will probably be up way before the journal. Hopefully not too long. I have squandered the last two days which I promised myself I would spend on writing the journal out, but it gives me an extra reason to get up a bit early (or stay up into all hours of the night). Let’s just hope it doesn’t take two years like the Europe ’98 diaries did.
