Five Year Luncheon

Today the company threw the Class of 2001 a nice luncheon at the Disneyland Hotel Marina ballroom. Over the years, people reaching the 5 year milestone received everything from crystal to chocolate. This year is the last 5 year luncheon that the resort will hold so I did not go into it with any sort of expectations or demands. After all, it was a free lunch which is just fine with me.

We had one of the Disneyland Ambassadors as the emcee and they showed clips of everything that has happened at the resort in the last five years – from the opening of Disney’s California Adventure Park to the 50th anniversary and Year of a Million Dreams Celebrations. A lot of stuff has happened in the time I have been at the resort, and I look forward to what is coming.

We also listened to someone from Walt’s Hometown of Marceline, MO. Walt only lived there for four years but it had a tremendous impact on his life and the shape of Disneyland. It was a great presentation and it made me want to go visit Marceline and visit the Walt Disney Hometown Museum in the future for inspiration. I really have no idea how that related to our 5 year luncheon, but I just rolled with it. I was hoping that as part of the Backstage Magic portion of the YOMD that one of us would have won a trip for two to Marceline. Oh well it was not to be. There is always the 10th Anniversary celebration.

Seeing all the photos made me go back through my archives and look at some of the photos that have been taken of me or by me in the 5+ years of working at the resort. I am going to upload some to Flickr in the next week and post a link here so you can relive the magic with me.
Here is to another 5!
