What a crazy week it has been. Since my last post, all sorts of craziness has ensued. Today is the first day I was able to get a good night’s sleep since then. Between working at my dad’s work and Disneyland, I have been up before dawn for the last 5 days.
Saturday and Sunday were spent at orientation. Saturday focused on the general rules for working at Disney, while Sunday was spent on Attractions orientation. I can’t tell you how excited I was to get my ID Card and name badges. Sunday, I found out that I was assigned to “The Classics” in Fantasyland. These are the attractions that are closest to the castle – Peter Pan, Mr. Toad, Pinocchio, Snow White, Carousel, Casey Jr., Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland, and Tea Cups. Alice and Teacups are being refurbished, so I will learn them later. At the same time I found out that I was in that section, I also got my training schedule. I started yesterday and continue through Thursday. 3 of the shifts start at 6:30am, which means leaving my house at 5:15am – whee!
The experience has been fun, but also nerve wracking at the same time. I guess I am overly-concerned with screwing up. My trainer has been great and I have passed my first test (Dumbo, Casey, and Carousel), but that spiel on the Carousel is gonna take some time to learn. My favorite so far is driving the Casey Jr. Train (My apologies to the people on the train when I stalled it). Well I better get going, I am due back at the park later today to learn how to close an attraction. I have a feeling the dark rides are gonna be a handful.
